Beech Hill

Hadley Wood, Barnet EN4

Three new-build, three storey luxury houses on a single  property plot in  Hadley Wood in North London.

Reinforced concrete piled ground beam foundations were required to support the three new buildings. As the entire site was founded on London clay and there were large trees nearby, there was a requirement for installing heave precautions in the form of polystyrene void formers below all the ground beams.

Prestressed precast concrete beam and block floors throughout with load bearing external blockwork masonry cavity walls, internal blockwork walls with intermediate steel beams and frames as required to create the main super structure of the building. Prestressed concrete hollowcore floor planks as well as cast in situ reinforced concrete landings had been installed to all upper floors

A lightweight structural steel portal frame with timber rafter infill mansard roof and loft space was created to minimise the load on the proposed piled foundations.

GIA: circa 2,100m²/ 22,600ft²
